What is Sierra?

Sierra is a platform for customer-facing AI agents. Its homepage headline is "Better outcomes. Built on Sierra," and it lists Ghostwriter, Agent Studio, Horizon, Context Engine, Insights, Explorer and Channels as products (homepage). Sierra says it uses outcome-based pricing so customers "only pay for the value Sierra delivers" (homepage). In February 2026 it reported "over $150M in ARR" (company-reported) (Year two in review).

Which AI capabilities does Sierra document?

  • Agent building. Sierra describes Ghostwriter as an agent that builds production-ready agents for voice, chat and email from SOPs, call transcripts or a plain-language description of the goal (Agents as a Service).
  • Conversation analysis. Explorer analyzes customer conversations to surface trends and improvement opportunities (Agents as a Service).
  • Long-running agents. Horizon is for agents that pursue goals over days, weeks or months, such as originating a loan or securing prior authorization (Horizon).

Sierra does not market QA, coaching or real-time assist for human agents on the pages checked. It is an AI agent platform rather than a tool for managing a human agent workforce.

How does it connect to existing contact center systems?

Sierra says one agent can be deployed "across chat, SMS, WhatsApp, email, voice, and ChatGPT," and describes memory "that connects conversations, systems, and touchpoints" (homepage). The homepage does not name CCaaS, telephony or CRM integration partners in text; a graphic shows data platform logos including Google Cloud, Databricks, Snowflake and AWS (homepage).

What security and compliance evidence is public?

Sierra's homepage lists SOC 2, ISO 27001, ISO 42001, HIPAA, GDPR, EU AI Act, STAR Level One, FedRAMP and PCI DSS (homepage). In September 2026 Sierra said it achieved AIUC-1 certification, which it describes as a standard that tests how AI agents behave, including under manipulation attempts (AIUC-1 post).

What changed in 2025-2026?

  • March 25, 2026: Ghostwriter and Explorer announced, with the platform rebuilt as headless infrastructure (Agents as a Service).
  • July 14, 2026: SoftBank Corp. became Sierra's exclusive partner in Japan (SoftBank).
  • July 16, 2026: Horizon announced (Horizon).

What should buyers verify?

Define in the contract exactly what counts as a billable outcome, since pricing is outcome-based and no rates are published on the homepage. Ask which telephony and CRM systems Sierra connects to natively. Plan separately for QA and coaching of human agents, which Sierra's pages do not cover.
