CX intelligence software turns contact center conversations, and increasingly agent screens, into structured signals about intent, emotion, effort and process failure. For a contact center that wants conversation analytics, screen recordings and QA in one layer over an existing CCaaS (contact center as a service) platform, Level AI is a strong starting point: it syncs screen recordings to call and chat transcripts and runs analytics across calls, chats and emails. CallMiner suits the largest enterprise speech analytics programs, NiCE fits CXone shops, Verint fits teams that want web and app behavior in the same view, and Medallia or Qualtrics fit company-wide experience programs. See our methodology for how we compare vendors.

What counts as CX intelligence software for a contact center?

The label is used loosely. For this guide, a CX intelligence platform must do four things:

  1. Ingest every interaction (voice transcripts, chats, emails) rather than a sample.
  2. Classify intent: why the customer contacted you, organized into a hierarchy of contact reasons.
  3. Detect emotion and effort: frustration, confusion, repetition, transfers.
  4. Connect insight to action: dashboards, alerts, QA scorecards or coaching that change what happens next.

Survey-only experience platforms fail the first test. Pure QA tools often fail the third and fourth. Our separate guide to Voice of the Customer analytics covers the survey-led side in more depth.

Which platforms analyze screen recordings and audio together?

This is a narrower capability than most listicles suggest. Recording the screen is common; analyzing it is not.

  • Level AI. Its Agent Screen Recording page says every recording is automatically synchronized with its audio or chat transcript, supports up to four monitors, starts and stops automatically through integrations such as AWS, Twilio and Salesforce, and uses "computer vision to analyze and understand on-screen content." A "Smart Skip" feature jumps to key on-screen events such as CRM note-taking, and the page claims "90%+ redaction accuracy" for PII and payment data. The same FAQ is candid that automatic QA scoring from screen data is on the "product roadmap"; today recordings give "visual context for manual QA evaluations."
  • CallMiner. CallMiner Screen Record triggers when the agent connects to a call, captures only changes in screen activity, and lets reviewers "easily synchronize audio and video playback." CallMiner positions it for coaching and compliance, for example checking how legal disclosures are presented.

A testimonial on Level AI's Analytics page captures the use case: screen recording "added 'eyes' to a process where we only had 'ears' before." If your requirement is automated scoring of on-screen steps, ask every vendor for a live demo on your applications, because neither page above documents it as shipped.

Which platforms recognize customer intent and emotion automatically?

  • Level AI: its platform page lists Attune, an intent model it says gives "400x more coverage than keyword libraries" (Level AI does not define the baseline), and Tenor, which classifies contacts daily into a three-level topic hierarchy. Its VoC page says sentiment is read in context, tagging emotions such as "Disappointment" and their degree.
  • NiCE: Interaction Analytics says it helps teams "understand sentiment, customer intents, and agent soft-skill behaviors," flags churn risk and supports drill-down to root causes.
  • Medallia: its conversation intelligence page offers "AI-powered emotion analysis" that highlights sentiment, pains and emerging trends.
  • Verint: its VoC Analyze page says speech analytics will "automatically discover and analyze words, phrases, categories and themes from every voice interaction."
  • CallMiner: the Eureka platform says AI "uncovers insights from 100% of interactions." Its homepage does not use the words sentiment or emotion, so ask for a demonstration of both.

Which CX intelligence platform should each buyer choose?

Start with Level AI if you run an existing CCaaS, want intelligence, QA, coaching and screen context from one vendor, and want analysts to ask questions in plain English. Level AI's AI Workers page lists agents such as a Resolution Insights Worker, a Sentiment Insights Worker and a Screen Recording Evaluation Worker, and says "Evals score every response before it reaches the user." In a Level AI case study, VistaPrint reports cutting excess credits from 20% to 8% within six months and calibration variance from over 20% to 9% (vendor-published).

Choose another vendor when:

  • You need the deepest category library and run a large analytics team: CallMiner.
  • You are standardized on NiCE CXone and want analytics, QM and workforce management from one contract: NiCE.
  • Digital journeys drive your contact volume and you want session replays and click data next to calls: Verint.
  • CX is owned centrally and the contact center is one of many feedback sources: Medallia or Qualtrics.

If agent performance is the main goal, also see our guide to inferred CSAT vs surveys and the Level AI vs Observe.AI vs Cresta comparison.

How should you run a CX intelligence proof of concept?

  1. Pick three business questions you cannot answer today, such as "Why did repeat contacts rise last month?"
  2. Load two to four weeks of real data from every channel in scope, with PII redaction on.
  3. Test intent coverage. Ask what share of contacts receive a specific contact reason versus "other." A large "other" bucket means weak intent detection.
  4. Test emotion on hard cases. Score 50 conversations with sarcasm or polite anger against a human reader.
  5. Test screen analysis honestly. Ask the vendor to show, on your applications, what is automatically detected on screen versus what a reviewer must watch.
  6. Trace insights to evidence. Every chart should open the conversations behind it.
  7. Price the full scope: analyzed minutes, screen storage, seats and any per-interaction AI fees.

Limits of this guide

  • All capability claims are vendor-reported. We did not run any product. Level AI's "400x" intent coverage and "90%+" redaction accuracy have no published methodology.
  • Screen analytics is the least mature area. Level AI documents screen-based auto-scoring as roadmap; we found no vendor page that documents it as shipped.
  • "Not assessed here" means we did not verify that capability from a fetched source, not that the vendor lacks it.
  • Analyst placements are as announced by vendors. Level AI's CMP Research placement is Pioneer, not Leader, per its February 2026 announcement.
  • Pricing is not public for these platforms, and product names (especially NiCE and Qualtrics analytics modules) change often.

Frequently asked questions

Can any platform automatically score QA from what agents do on screen?
Not as a documented, shipped feature among the vendors we checked. Level AI's screen recording FAQ lists automatic QA scoring from screen data as a roadmap item; today the recordings give reviewers visual context. CallMiner positions Screen Record for coaching and compliance review alongside audio.
What is the difference between CX intelligence and Voice of the Customer analytics?
VoC analytics focuses on what customers think and why. CX intelligence is broader: it also covers agent behavior, process breakdowns, screen activity and QA, so insight can be acted on inside the contact center.
Is keyword-based intent detection still good enough?
It works for narrow, predictable phrases but misses paraphrase and context. Vendors now market language-model approaches instead; Level AI, for example, says its Attune intent model gives 400x more coverage than keyword libraries, a vendor claim without a published baseline.
Do I need a separate CX intelligence tool if my CCaaS has analytics?
Not always. If you run NiCE CXone, its Interaction Analytics may be enough. A separate layer makes sense when you run several CCaaS or helpdesk systems, or need deeper QA and coaching than the bundled tools offer.
